And Southern English has a heavy, obvious accent. But, that's true in many parts of the country. Supposedly Midwestern English is considered the cleanest--I've heard several times that people involved in hiring national television news anchors strive to find people with the Midwestern accent (or lack thereof, depending upon your perspective). Jeff Foxworthy would never be considered for a national news anchor position.

BTW--the idea about Southern hospitality--now, in the present day, at least--is a myth. I doubt that they(we) are any more hospitable, warm, etc. than people in any other part of the country.
