Yes. And I woke up and saw that it was -only- a nightmare.
Both apps (ePub Zip/Unzip & Apprentices') run smoothly again. I only have to erase any trace of the apps in my system, redownload both, and (this important, apparently) unzip the archives with the built-in Mac unzip utility.
