Yes, absolutely subjective. And I certainly wasn't implying anyone's opinion was in any sense wrong.

I have found that the "fugly" opinion is far more widely held among those who have never spent much time with (or even actually seen) the original Kindle than those who have used one.

I also see a good bit of similarity in the design of K1 and K2 -- some things favoring the original, some the newer model. Is it just the thinner, non-wedge design that makes the new one not "fugly?" Rounded corners? More white plastic?

I don't find either version ugly (nor do I find them particularly beautiful). I guess I am blind to aesthetic (as opposed to functional) design issues that are very important to others. Wouldn't be the only respect in which I am odd.
