YourClassical's
free MP3 of the day is a piece by Gioachino Rossini,
La Siege De Corinthe: Overture.
The rendition that we can get
free is the one taken from the Naxos album
Rossini - Complete Overtures - 1 - The Thieving Magpie [the photo of a magpie on the album cover is a real eye-catcher, G]
- Semiramide - Otello.
As far as credits are concerned for the piece that we can get
free from the album, Prague Sinfonia Orchestra performs, and Christian Benda conducts. You can find out much more about the entire album, by pointing your web browser to
this URL, where there is a dedicated Naxos webpage for the entire album, along with some interesting information about Rossini and, well, several other cool things.
By the way, have you noticed how long it is taking the Naxos dedicated webpages for albums to load lately? I wonder if that might be because of how far they have to travel over the Internet from Hong Kong to get to here.

But I digress.
This rendition of
La Siege De Corinthe: Overture is 9 minutes, 31 seconds long. Stream it and/or download it from
this webpage. To download it, click on "Direct MP3 download link."
My opinion of the piece?
After the first couple of minutes or so, I think that it sounds great. I don't like the way that the piece begins. But, that's what we have tools like Audacity for, is to fix those kinds of things, right?
