troubleshooting...made sure I used a "Kindle" usb cable. Confirmed that other Kindles would connect. Attempted to connect to different USB ports on different computers...reset, restart, de-registered, re-registered...

It's dead to everything except wifi. I also checked to see if there was an option to update the software, but it's always greyed out.

any suggestions?
Are you still able to charge it over USB?
