Device: Kobo Aura and Kobo Mini, had a Nook, NOOKcolor, Nook STR.

Tablets from the likes of Samsung, Asus or Lenovo are likely to run you 2 or 3 times the Nook's $50, of course they'll generally have better specs too but that's unlikely to matter for your stated usage.
Thank you. I just wanted to make sure it had the play store and didn't have that weird look to it when held at a angle.

I actually see there's a Koko Arc up for auction, but I have never heard of it. Anybody have info on it?
