I thought that I had explained that in the step itself.

grayscale Kindles DO NOT run Android or any other embedded system that keeps a copy of the original firmware on it.
So they can not change firmware version with a factory reset.

All it does is erase the two user data areas, the one you can see over USB and the hidden one.

Just continue to continue by doing the rest of the steps in order.
