I don't really expect Amazon to come out with another premium tablet after the last refresh when they released 8 and 10-inch tablets with lower resolution screens than the previous generation's 7-inch model. Barnes and Noble did the same thing, with 1280 by 800 screens on the new 10-inch Samsung Models where the HD+ had 1920 by 1200 on 8.9 inches.
I think the price wars drove out the resolution wars and high resolution won't be coming back to large screen tablets anytime soon.

Obviously there are still high resolution tablets, but Amazon has no reason to try to compete with them. It took a very long time for the HDX line to sell out, and while they have had some success with low end tablets. Even there, they have only refreshed HD 8, and that was almost a year ago.
