All books have been fully proofed: Poems and Villette against early editions, and the other novels—due to the large amount of typographical errors in the original books, especially in those of Emily and Anne—against the critical and quite rare Clarendon Edition of the Novels of the Brontės, which uses the first editions (or, in the case of The Professor, the manuscript) as copy texts. The editors’s corrections for their texts of Jane Eyre, Shirley, and Wuthering Heights from the appendix of The Professor have been incorporated. As my book scanning budget is a little exhausted at the moment, you have to wait a bit longer for the critical Villette edition.

Hidden in the code you can find (if you delete “display: none;” from the <ins> element in the stylesheet) possible emendations and undocumented deviations of the critical editions from the first edition texts (which are either mistakes or simply unaccounted-for emendations).

A word of caution regarding The Tenant of Wildfell Hall: all online e-texts that I have seen (with the exception of the yet unfinished Wikisource text, but including those available on MR) are based on the 1920 John Lane edition, which is derived from a heavily expurgated 1854 Parlour Library edition that leaves out about 30 pages of the text.

There are the usual inline tables of contents and links after each text/chapter to get back to the respective tables.
