I ordered one the day before the announcement, assuming that there would be functional improvements over the previous one and, having seen the pics, knowing that it was going to look a lot better. I even qualified for the first batch of the new ones and was slated to receive it on the 25th of this month, but when I thought more about it I decided to cancel my order.
Ultimately I just can't justify the expenditure right now. My PRS-500 is working fine, and with Calibre up and running for all of my news and conversion needs, I don't see a huge advantage in the WhisperNet right now. Especially since I work from home a lot and haven't been traveling much.
The new K2 is definitely the device I will be upgrading to at some point, no question about it. And don't get me wrong; I think all the features of the new Kindle make it the top ebook reader out there right now. But right now I can't see spending $400 on it while my Sony Reader is still working. Sometime in June or July I'll probably get one though, and who knows - maybe they'll have reduced the price to $300 by then.
