technically you can't search the (original) epubs, they are encrypted.
if you search them post DRM removal, you can't know for sure what else may have been removed / altered. but best leave it there, this is not a forum for discussion of DRM mechanics

FYI My digital editions/manifest - has an xml per book with date & time therein. if may be in other locations also. I would guess that the manifest data feeds the library view screen.

e.g. for one of my current loans, the matching xml contains
<expirationTime xmlns="http://ns.adobe.com/digitaleditions">2017-03-07T19:27:14Z</expirationTime>
