it seems to me to be a good optionally feature to have for those who want it, if it's good enough for a tablet and mobile phone etc then why not an e-reader as well.

And just to be clear as to what MY opinion is:

Yes, there is a security issue. Yes, it should be fixed. But, I don't believe it is a very bad problem. I can think of lots of things I'd prefer Kobo to spend their development time on.
