I always wondered about that line, but that is what I've always heard. So I looked it up as the Pandora app displays the lyrics. This is what they are singing:

That definitely makes more sense!
BTW, I still hear
men on Mars even though I know that is incorrect. And I still hear "I
guess the rains down in Aftrica" even though I know that is incorrect too!
