I'm pleasantly surprised that for $30, with no activation required, we can get a device like this. Bluetooth, Wifi, GPS, and even with only 8GB (and shifting some stuff to the SD card) he has a gaggle of apps installed.
And if we want to, we can even activate it as a phone.
I doubt I'll even bother buying him a case for protection. Hopefully by the time he breaks it, we'll be able to get an even better device even cheaper.
(I don't WANT it to be disposable, but it seems like the better value play.)
