I don't think it's fair to even call it a beta feature. Kobo haven't announced it as such. It's only the hawk-eyed code scrutinizers in these forums (
to whom I offer many thanks for efforts past, present & future) who spotted it in the first place.
It's probably more like a pre-alpha feature. It may arrive fully-fledged some day or it might sink without trace. I think it's encouraging that Kobo have picked up on the fact that some users would like it and have made some tentative steps to look at it.
