I had sort of forgotten I had amplified the complaints about Kindle for Samsung's memory-hogging tendencies back at the beginning of the month, but when I came back to check out Feb's selections once more before making my choice, I remembered . And I much appreciate folks' answers, even if it's just shared misery! Thanks especially for the suggestions below - I already do 1-4, although with different apps, but wasn't aware of suggestion 5, so many thanks for that!

And yes, I suppose I could buy a new phone with more internal memory, but (1) 16 GB SHOULD be enough, and (2) even if I got something with 32 GB, a cynical part of me suspects that Kindle would expand to take up almost all of that too! (Probably not the case, but I'm cynical sometimes...)

Anyway, thanks to tubemonkey for the summaries - much easier than looking at them on my phone...

Oh yeah, and this'll bump the thread up for the end of the month, since time is short to make a choice if you haven't already...

I traded up from a SGS4 to a SGS7 last April (via a $1 trade-in at Best Buy; you might consider trading up, too, if you can find a good deal or get fed up with the SGS4's storage limitations). I also disabled the regular Kindle app (which is part of Samsung's bloatware) and regularly perform the tasks listed below. Nonetheless, I continue to share your complaints about the KFS app.

Because I use a lot of apps and storage-hogging content, I regularly perform the following tasks, which you might also benefit from performing:

(1) Move content from such apps as Kindle, Kobo, and NOOK to the cloud, or archive it.

(2) Disable or Greenify apps not currently in use.

(3) Use the ES Task Manager app's Kill, Clean, and Optimize functions.

(4) Use the AppMgr III app to transfer moveable apps - including KFS - to external storage and to clean cache again. It's a daily whack-a-mole game, though, because each time apps update, they move themselves back to internal storage.

(5) Type *#9900# on my phone's keypad and then select delete dumpstate/logcat, to remove unneeded log files.
