Aura H2O software

Cicra 2014 H2O reader packed up in the wee small hours a couple of days ago. Tried everything the nice people at Kobo suggested with no success. Basically will not boot and has a flashing white power light. Read lots of threads and have tried most of them. I was offered £20 off the price of a replacement but I would like to repair if possible. I have managed to get it apart, so wondered is there a link that I could download the software onto the internal sd card? I have read all about patches, but I don't know if my software is fried or not as I don't have a Linux machine.
Any ideas or guidance would be much appreciated
