I always leave wi-fi on. And I also tried turning it off and back on right before syncing to make sure it was connected and active -- no luck. The only way I can get my Aura One to acknowledge that it's synced is by connecting it via USB to Kobo Desktop. For now, I've shut off the auto sync so I don't wake up to a drained battery.

It seems like they've made the wi-fi aggressively time-out and go into a standby mode when its not actively transferring any data. My wi-fi is insanely weak on the 2.4 GHz band. (Thankfully my other devices can use 5 GHz or Ethernet). So maybe the wi-fi is going into standby before the device gets the message that it is in fact synced -- new books and pocket articles are showing up, but the sync icon just keeps endlessly spinning.
