I've updated the metatadata on my device (Kobo Aura H2O) both from Calibre's device and Kobo Utilities drop down menus and unplugged and replugged my device in several times in the hopes that that would sort it. It always has in the past as far as I can tell.

Is this possibly related to the new firmware or should I raise a separate question for it, do you think?
I can't think that it is related to the firmware update, but I haven't actually run the metadata update for a few weeks. I'll test tonight to see what happens.

But, have you tried restarting the device? The updates are made to the database directly. The device uses memory structures that have come from the database. Sometimes you need to restart the device to force the database to be reread.
