Yep, Doitso & BadGoodDeb, I definitely looked the List View / All Items. And the books had their DRM removed with the plug-in to Calibre.
And the de-drm process worked as I was able to convert them to other formats, including mobi. And those mobis , once side-loaded on to the Kindle, could be seen.
This is what's weirding me out - the problem, although reproducible, just doesn't make any sense.
