On Sabayon it just works. There is no prompt about either dotnet or gecko on running wineboot. On Manjaro there is a warning on running about the absence of mono and gecko. There is an option to install them, but with a suggestion that it is better to use the packages from your distro. I declined the offer to install and did in fact install these two Manjaro packages. It then just worked with no further difficulties.

I love and use Linux. Here we have an example of what is both a strength and a weakness. So many distros and packages and configurations. Fantastic for choice, but difficult in a situation like this. I hoped the howto would provide a simple way for those running Linux without a good knowledge of it and the command line to get this package installed and working. Also to save some time and effort for more advanced users. It seems to be doing this job to some extent. I doubt it will ever work for every distro and configuration out of the box, but hopefully with some contributions we can get it working for most cases.

Wine is indeed a nightmare. Sometimes I wonder how it works at all for so many programs. And with Windows a moving target and becoming ever more bloated.

I don't currently have anything running Linux Mint. When I get a few moments I will install it in a VM and see if I can reproduce and hopefully solve the problem.
