I still can't register my jail-broken K2 international running version 3.2.1 but I finally got the un-jail-broken K2 to register!!! Thank you all for putting up with my technologically retarded rants, and for trying to respond in plain English so that I might understand. Amazon is giving me $50 to let them look at it. Y'all may get the same offer. Here are the e-mail replies from two Amazon techies:
Hello Melanie,
I'm Kenneth Sanchez of Amazon's Tech Support Executive Customer Relations. Jeff Bezos received your email and I'm responding on his behalf.
We’d like to offer our apologies as the information we initially provided to Douglas was inaccurate, and we continue to support older Kindle models. Over the weekend, we resolved an issue which was impacting a small number of customers’ ability to re-register their devices. We believe the issue you are experiencing might be unrelated and we’d like to look into this. If you’re willing, we can have a Customer Service agent contact you once we investigate this issue further. In the meantime, if you have any questions, please let us know.
Again, we apologize for the inconvenience.
Regards,
Kenneth Sanchez

Hello Melanie,
I've issued a $50.00 promotional certificate to your Amazon.com account, which will automatically apply the next time you order an eligible item sold and shipped by Amazon.com. The promotional certificate doesn't apply to items offered by other sellers on the Amazon.com website and won't cover the purchase of gift cards, sales tax, gift wrap, or additional shipping costs.
Your promotional balance doesn't appear in Your Account, but will always display at checkout when you place an order through the Shopping Cart for an eligible item shipped and sold by Amazon.
If you place a 1-Click order for eligible Kindle books or other digital products sold by Amazon Digital Services, the promotional funds will apply to your order automatically before another payment method is charged.
UPS will pick up your device by tomorrow between 9:00 a.m. and 1:00 p.m. We will investigate the issue, and send it back to you.
Thank you very much for your time. Please don't hesitate about contacting me if you have any questions. We'll be in touch.
Regards,
Luis Salazar
