The apartment I lived in for 22 year had the cable lines on the poles along with the electricity and phone. It was also a part of town that had big old houses and big old trees. Power outages were common and not always of short duration as tree branches pulled down wires in various storms.

Where I live now, everything's underground. I was so excited, after 22 years of resetting my clocks everyone other week, thinking I'd never have a power outage again.

Two months after I moved into my current place, we had a HUGE storm. Approximately 1 mile east, we have one of those major commerce roads (mile after mile of strip malls, lots of traffic). Well, on that road, the poles toppled over one after the other like dominoes. We lost power for 4 days because they fed our underground wires.

That's what I got for gloating - even if just to myself.
