Although to be fair, I personally would use a modified Option A. Copy, not cut, everything over. Confirm that it's working right in the new location (you'll have to do this no matter what method you use to move everything over), then delete the original.

Absolutely 
I've done it before on several occasions and never struck a problem. I might have just moved it sometimes (for me its F5 to copy and F6 to move). I use portables for testing ideas, plugins, etc.
