That is important to know. Installing the OS could cause a brick or the need to factory reset. So I do think that just pointing people to the relevant thread only isn't a good idea. I think it is a good idea to ALSO point them to the relevant thread.

The device will refuse to install the OS part if it is not made for it. You would have to trick the device into installing it.
