a Convoluted file Conversion
This is really just a mini-rant, to find out if anybody else has ever seen this.
I got an epub from OpenLibrary.org, and it was sooooooo slllllooooowwwww loading. Only 900 kb, what could be the problem? and when it finally does open, it displays like a very widely-kerned monospace typewriter, a single space between each character.
When I opened it in Sigil, I find that EVERY SINGLE GLYPH is followed by a line-feed. 20 html files of about 12-15,000 words each, and over 72,000 LINES for each file. It is a wonder that it could open at all!

I fixed with some quick Search and Replace, but was surprised to find from the metadata that "Abbyy to Epub tool" was used. I thought Abbyy was the holy grail of OCR and pdf conversion.
I've never seen this before, but I have lived a sheltered life.
