I wouldn't call it a recommendation. I haven't read the book or heard the audiobook, but I vetted both (especially the ebook) very carefully.
I was somewhat familiar with the Kursk accident, however. It seems like there was another, similar, Soviet submarine tragedy during the Cold War days, but I've forgotten the details. I don't think that all lives were lost in that accident, though. In fact, I've forgotten the details about the Kursk accident. I'll probably

Of course, the U.S. wasn't immune to submarine accidents, either, in which sailors lost their lives. But I don't think that we have ever lost a nuclear submarine, (like the Soviets did with the
Kursk). In part, this was due to the U.S.'s much more rigorous standards for construction, maintenance, repair, etc. of submarines in our nuclear fleet, I think.
