Ever since I received my KA1 (and it's already a replacement), auto brightness never worked really well. For example: if you lower it to 2% it will completely turn the light off regardless if it's day or night. Sometimes it's turned off when I power up to read, which still didn't understand why. If I try to set higher than 5% say 15, a few seconds later it will go back to 5 and i you try to put it back to 15 it will fight you and go back again to 5. It's rather annoying. I have noticed that it never goes lower than 4 and higher than 5%. In contrast natural light auto control works well. For instance auto brightness on a kindle voyage is really good and accurate and learns your settings quite quickly, something KA1 dooesn't.
