I understood words (and maybe the gist of it), but my response is simple: Je ne parle pas Francais, vous parlez Anglais?
Don't mind the spelling, it's been waaaaaaaaay too long since I've had French at school :P I just type like how I would pronounce it
One thing I never could understand (nor get used to) is that some words are capitalized and languages never... (while countries are).
