The cable is not an issue. It the USB charger that's the issue. For a USB charger to work, it has to be USB spec. Most are not. They are Apple spec which doesn't work with a Sony Reader. So using the PSP charger is just easier then trying to find a USB charger that works that's not a Sony brand.
