I've never been charged and I send quite a few.

Secondly, there is a way not to be charged, I believe. You download them from the site and put the files on yourself - I THINK.

Also, if you have a Windows computer you can use a free program MobiCreator to convert these files yourself in just a few moments. Plug in the Kindle and there you go.
