Set in the Mistborn universe, this is a direct sequel to The Allow of Law.

But while that book worked quite well with only a vague remembrance of the earlier trilogy (and got 5/5 from me when I read it), this book brings back in elements from the earlier books in a big way, and I feel that I would have got much more out of it if I had re-read the earlier books first.

Apart from that, very good indeed.

I'm just pondering whether I should re-read the earlier trilogy before going on to the final volume of this one.

But next up, a series I've heard about quite a lot, but I've put off for the very bad reason that it makes me think of Kurt Vonnegut's Slaughterhouse Five. (The books's plots are not connected. It's just the main character's name and the book title that put me off.)

Yes, it's the Harry Dresden series by Jim Butcher. So I'm starting on Storm Front, the first in the series.
