Thank you very much for the quick response! I appreciate the help, as well as your efforts in building this for everyone!
There's one part I'm confused by; I know your directions on the post for the KA1 say to follow the instructions on the first post for installing KSM8, and then follow the instructions on the KA1 post (which you quoted here). My question is about the step "extract KoboRoot.tgz from the uploaded archive" from the KA1 upgrade post. On that page, there isn't an archive that contains a KoboRoot.tgz, there is only the KSM08_ext_aura_one_03b.zip file. Which archive did you mean?
Maybe a better question is this; if I take the actual 4.2.8283 firmware file from downloads.kobobooks.com, extract the KoboRoot.tgz, merge in the files from your KSM08_ext_aura_one_03b.zip, and then repack it into KoboRoot.tgz and copy it to .kobo, should that work?
Again, thanks very much for the assistance!
EDIT: Forgot to mention - I was able to restore to the original firmware by just downloading it from download.kobobooks.com, extracting the zip file and copying the KoboRoot.tgz file to /.kobo on the ereader. Thanks.

- copy the extracted KoboRoot.tgz into .kobo of your device
- safely eject and disconnect your device
- select (in KSM home) "handle update" > "install update" (do not select "install partial update")
- wait until the device has rebooted
I do not have my device with me, from memory it is:
(KSM home) tools > ksm diverse.msh > del KSM.sh
This is exactly the right place.
