I don't like reading on the phone. I find it easier to read on an e-ink screen, both for because the e-ink screen itself and the size of the screen. My e-reader will stay powered for days; my phone will stay powered for hours. I don't really like the interface on the phone.
I have an old Kindle Keyboard. It does the job quite well. I had a Paperwhite, but I lost it on a trip to Iowa. I liked it, but I didn't want to spend the money to replace it, so I bought a used Kindle Keyboard with 3G. I also have a Fire tablet, I'll read on that at night. I'll read on the phone if there's nothing else available.
