Backstory is: this woman has been emailing me for MONTHS, about her children's book. (For those of you not in the racket, the "profit margin" on a typically 32-page book requires an electron microscope to actually SEE, much less spend....) Back and forth, back and forth. The other day, she sends a message that says something like "are you SURE you understand what I want done," to which I replied, a bit shortly, "look, send the file, or don't. I've already had X email discussions with you, over the last Y months, and I still have not seen the file. That makes it extraordinarily difficult for me to respond to any further questions, because:
I have not seen the file."
(More quick context: my assistant/CS Manager has departed these shores, for a MUCH better gig, at 3x the pay, which is groovy, but I haven't yet replaced her, which means I'm trying to handle 300 emails/day, by myself.)
Today, email from same prospective client (whom I suspect will balk at the price we give her, no matter WHAT it is):
