No, auto-sync being on means that once a day it does a full sync. There was a bug that meant the auto-sync couldn't be turned off and other bugs that meant any sync could fail in such a way that it continued using lots of CPU. These bugs have been fixed and should not be causing a problem with the 4.2.x firmware.
