Weird Stretching on Mobi Files

I recently updated to the new Kindle Fire HD 6 6th Gen. I have an assortment of mobi files (they were RTF's that were converted to mobi using Calibre) and I've noticed that when reading the books, some of the letters are bolded, or looks like it is slightly offset: http://imgur.com/SXEcnD4

What I've further discovered is the issue goes in a straight line down the page, like so: http://imgur.com/wHDlG4J

I get the same effect on the bottom sometimes: http://imgur.com/TNsKfNi

The only thing I can think of is that there's something off in the aspect ratio maybe when converting? I'm an extremely basic user so I wouldn't know the first thing about what settings to change when converting. It's all basically default, except I went to the Page Setup in Common Options to Output Profile - Kindle Fire, but nothing changed. I've put the same files on all the other Kindle Fire devices in the house, and they all look fine.

Things I have tried troubleshooting:
It is only mobi files.
All the books bought from the Kindle store display correctly.
If a letter is messed up, and I rotate the screen, the same letter won't be messed up, it'll be a different one. But if I rotate back, it's the same letter again.
I have tried every font/formatting combination (on my Kindle), and nothing seems to work.
I have also tried resetting and starting over again.
I re-converted the books (from the original RTF) to AZW3, and I found the same problem.
