If you don't want to install the later versions of ADE because of DRM, you can still install version 2.01, which uses the same DRM as version 1.7x.
I think it's also possible to install both ADE 2.01 and ADE 4.x. Use 2.01 for books you buy, and 4.x for borrowing books from the library.
