The problem is somewhere else. I did not know the settings for Smarten Punctuation. The conversion from -- to – would thus remain undetected.
A possible answer prevailed: for that the
Differences between Books window exists: With dozens or hundreds of 'smartenings' I had not looked at it so accurate until then. I changed my working method now.
