I mostly follow mysteries, and a few that I remember off the top of my head as being on Smashwords include: Emma Jameson (Lord and Lady Hetheridge series), Ashley Gardner (pen name for Jennifer Ashley, series is Captain Lacey), P.B. (Patricia) Ryan (Nell Sweeney), Hazel Holt, Deb Baker (several), Connie Shelton, Lyn Hamilton (Lara McClintock), Raymond Benson (Stiletto) and Edie Claire (Leigh Koslow). Not sure these are all still on the Smashwords site, but might be worth a look. There are pretty good romantic elements in the first three I listed, for those who are looking to replace All Romance more than Omni Lit, but still these are mysteries and not classic romances. Totally agree that the Smashwords website is atrocious!

Right now you have to pretty much know the author or publisher you are looking for.

There are some good small publishers at Smashwords, but you have to look for them specifically. I think Gemma Halliday is still there and I used to keep a running list of some of the ones I'd had good luck with, but I honestly don't shop there much anymore. (Gemma Halliday books are also on Amazon and Kobo and they are usually couponable). There were a couple of fantasy publishers I used to keep track of but I can't remember the names off the top (or the bottom) of my head.
