Concerning 1.8.0, I seem to remember reading somewhere that the very first versions had a problem with play store which was fixed, but the fixed firmware still has version number 1.8.0. So you might consider re-downloading 1.8.0 an re-flashing.

Tried reflashing back to 1.7.5, and ended up completely borking my eReader. Display is now faint almost-to-the-point of illegibility, and quickly becomes completely illegible because it overwrites rather than refreshing. I am therefore having a great deal of difficulty doing anything. It appears to be software, not hardware thankfully (on reboot, initial Onyx Boox screen appears normal, before a faint 'Kepler loading', or some such, screen).
Can anybody give me any idea how to either:
- Force an update with only hardware buttons
- Force an update from my PC
- Force a screen refresh using hardware buttons (so I can see to navigate) -- I'm coming to think that changing page-forward-long to 'Home' may have been a mistake (you can survive without being able to go immediately to the home screen more than you can without a legible screen)
