- and conversion will be slower if the WP program has been used as if it were a typewriter, e.g. successive tabs and spaces to align text horizontally etc. If the output EPUB is riddled with things like
<span class="calibre1">°°</span> (where the ° represents a space) that's usually a good indication of that.
Best, and fastest, results are achieved by using the WP program's template and style facilities (assuming Word or Writer).
