I used to live in Dillsburg, PA. Where they drop a giant dill pickle on New Years Eve, rather than a traditional ball. Johnny Carson even covered the Dill Drop one year (so I hear; didn't see it).

This recipe sounds about right. Disguised by the red coloring and lack of seeds, you wouldn't recognize these red rings as pickles. If you like spiced apple rings, you'll like these pickles.
I guess I should point out that I love pickles. Always have. Red pickles, dill pickles, bread and butter pickles, sweet pickles.....even
