I think that you are a very lucky guy if you can use ipad without feeling strain to your eyes. The ipad or samsung tablets are much more functional than ereaders. But unfortunately or maybe fortunately the tablet screens are not good for my eyes and not only fo mine. I could not endure reading from ipad and even my big good destop pc hp monitor is not good for my eyes for long reading. Yes, the brightness can be and should be adjusted and yet there remains something affecting the eyes. There is nothing like this with the ereader. I am using dpt s1 and the more i use it the more i prefer it to lcd screen. The page turning is a second or two longer than with the ipad, but the eyes do not feel as affected as after reading fron lcd.
