Runs on Android and can be rooted. At least previous models could be rooted last time I looked. Check before you buy, if you are interested in installing your own apps.

Seems like the newest model doesn't have an SD card, but seems to have 8GB storage and is waterproof (and so smoke-proof as well). It also has a flush screen like Paperwhite has.
