I was happy, it came in a plain brown box but looked new. and has worked without any problems for over a year. In the past I have purchase many, many refurbed electronics and have found great value. Latest refurb, my Voyage. looks new and without any objectionable screen discoloration, Refurbs usually go through very strenuous refurbishing they do NOT want it back a second time. I can understand getting a bad or defective item out of the box. You send it back immediately! Otherwise with Amazon I believe a refurb has the same warranty as a new one, understand an item has a 1 year warranty and you send it back after say 6 months...you only have 6 months left for the orig. purchase, NOT another year.
All this unhappiness about getting a refurb you will get one that looks like new should act like new and maybe does not have any scratches like the one you sent back.
I agree with Breathinlady here. I have received/bought many refurbished units and have been very happy with them. If I hadn't been told they were refurbished, there would have been no way for me to know as they look and act just like a brand new item. If something is factory refurbished from the original manufacturer, I'm fairly comfortable in receiving that in place of a brand new item. Now I'm more leery of 3rd party refurbished units and will steer away from them.
