So far, here's what I've found, as I work through it. Entirely just poking away to see what pops out the far end.
Built fim, static libraries, loaded it to kindle. It can't access the terminal.
Kill Xorg... it restarts itself.
Next steps:
-> edit upstart to knock Xorg offline, and then see if I can access the framebuffer
-> See if I can create an X app that will load within the windowing system that I can push too..
Getting a build environment working took a while...
