The Oasis goes into a kind of deep sleep, unlike the other kindles. So it doesn't really use much of any battery if it just sits. When the device starts charging in the cover depends. I read out of the cover so when I put it in, it usually starts. But it only goes to 94% usually. Somtimes it stops and starts again, if I happen to check. There seems to be some kind of trigger points build in.
On the Oasis you can check the battery level in percentage of the device and cover. Only when its in cover though.
Its all automatic though, there is no setting. You stick it in and it does its thing.
I went on vacation for a week in september and didn't take my Oasis. I took my basic kindle on the trip. When I came back my Oasis was at the same battery levels for cover and device than when I left. I think there might have been 1% difference.
Its why when you open the Oasis after a longer sit, it says waking up and takes a couple of seconds more than other kindles to come on.
