I've used both types and I much prefer the ones that clip on the the Kindle. Magnets don't really hold them on. You push the Kindle into the curved portion and it clicks into place simply because it's a tight fit. I've been using these for years and they weigh a lot less, are very sturdy and do last for years. The ones that cover the bezel work well and offer the same protection but they weigh more and they (yuk) cover the bezel.

The magnets, by the way, are there to keep the cover closed and to wake the Kindle when you open the cover.
