I would hazard a guess that you have as little information on the production as I do.
If there is a 2-3 months lead time for production slots, then they would have had ample time get this submitted.
I don't pretend to know how Kobo operate, I merely see that there has been a constant shortage of devices, differences between batches that have been released so far and, judging by this forum and personal experience, there is a high return rate.
If your returns exceed a certain rate, it's part of a normal QA process to look into production.
